service projects
Club members may donate their time by working on some of the
club's service projects. Projects are chosen according to member
interest and participation is not mandatory. Some of the projects
include:
- Senior Bingo Luncheon - Every spring we host a
catered bingo luncheon for area senior citizens. Club members
donate bingo prizes, and staff and serve at the luncheon. Get
the 2008
invitation.
- The Gathering - Members serve a meal at a meal site
in downtown Milwaukee, as well as collect and deliver wish-list
items over the course of the year.
- Meals On Wheels - Members deliver meals to area
homebound seniors on the first and third Monday of each
month-year round.
- Nike Reuse-A-Shoe - In conjunction with Earth Day,
used athletic shoes are collected at area schools and delivered
to a site where they are then recycled to make playing surface
material for playgrounds, running tracks, basketball and tennis
courts, soccer and football fields.
- Family Fun Before the Fourth - During the annual
Mequon-Thiensville Fourth of July celebration, we staff a
face-painting booth at the Thiensville Park.
- Continuing Education-Scholarship - Every year we
offer a scholarship to an area woman who is returning to
school. It has been a $500 - $1,000 scholarship.
- College Scholarship - 2004 was the first year we
offered a $1,000 college scholarship to an area high school
female. This will continue to be an annual college scholarship.
- Other Projects - Safety Town treats, Books for Babies, Rotary Riverwalk, Family
Service project, etc.
